Recurring
Subscriptions, bills, and any other charge that hits your account on a regular cadence. FinNudge auto-detects them, predicts the next charge date, and lets you cancel before the trial ends.
How detection works
The Subscription Watchdog agent looks for amount + merchant pairs that repeat in a consistent pattern (monthly, weekly, annually). When it spots three matches in a row, it tags the merchant as recurring and surfaces it on the Recurring page.
You can manually promote any transaction to recurring from the edit drawer. Useful for bills that just started or for ones we miss.
Cadence types
- Weekly: gym memberships, weekly coffee delivery.
- Monthly: most streaming and SaaS subscriptions.
- Quarterly: utilities in some markets, some insurance.
- Annual: domain renewals, insurance, big software licenses.
- Irregular: when amounts vary too much (utilities), we still track but flag the variability.
The next-due dashboard card
On the dashboard, the Recurring card shows everything due in the next 14 days. Yellow dot = upcoming, red dot = due in 3 days or less. Click More → for the full list.
Trial & first-charge alerts
When a brand-new merchant first hits your card and we suspect it's a trial (low first charge, common SaaS pattern), the Subscription Watchdog fires a nudge with the trial end date. You can dismiss or cancel before the first real charge.
Price increase alerts
If a recurring charge jumps more than 10% versus its prior amount, we nudge you so you catch silent price hikes (Netflix, Spotify, hosting providers, all known offenders).
Cancelling a subscription
FinNudge doesn't cancel for you (yet), but the action button on each row links to the merchant's billing page when we know it. For unknown merchants, click Mark canceledwhen you've done the deed and we'll stop expecting future charges.
Recurring & budgets
Subscriptions count toward their assigned category budget exactly like any other transaction. Putting them all in a single "Subscriptions" category gives you a clean monthly subtotal for benchmarking.
